What is laser treatment and how does it work?

Laser treatment provides non-invasive, painless, non-surgical and drug-free treatment used to treat a variety of conditions and can be performed in conjunction with existing treatments. Laser therapy uses deep penetrating light to create a series of chemical reactions known as photostimulation. This process helps relieve pain through the release of endorphins and stimulates damaged cells to heal at an accelerated rate. Although improvement is often seen after the first visit, your condition will affect the frequency and duration of subsequent laser treatments. Treatments vary in duration, but most areas last 8 to 30 minutes. Laser treatments are cumulative, so any extra treatment will make it easier for you to improve your health. The duration and frequency of treatments vary depending on the condition.

Laser treatment can also be referred to as cold laser treatment, low level laser or class IV laser. Each of these terms refers to the treatment itself, using the same equipment to stimulate cell regeneration and increase blood circulation.

Laser treatment helps to repair tissues by causing the following:

Endorphin release

Vascular dilation, which increases blood flow to carry oxygen and cells involved in the healing process

Muscular relaxation

Reduced inflammation

Faster healing and repair

Ιncreased blood flow: Vascular dilation of capillaries and arteries.

Ιο Biostimulation: Tissue regeneration, stimulation of protein synthesis, stimulation of ATP production, stimulation of fibroblast mitosis, increase of collagen and elastin.

Anti- inflammatory action.

Epidemic action, by stimulating the lymphatic system.

Analgesic action: Increase the perception limit of nerve endings.

What kind of pathologies can laser treatment cure?

Who Can Benefit From Laser Therapy?

Laser treatment is used for

Chronic arthritis

Surgical incisions

Tendon and ligament injuries

Various Injuries

The laser stimulates the cells causing the mitochondria to produce more ATP (energy used by the cells) which allows faster cell healing and reduces inflammation. Cold laser treatment works well for acute and chronic lesions.

Laser treatment for pain relief

Laser treatments are a great way to relieve pain. Laser treatment reduces pain by reducing inflammation through "vasodilation" (opening of blood vessels) and also by activating the lymphatic drainage system, thus draining the swollen areas. The result is a reduction in swelling that reduces pain. Lasers also stimulate nerve cells that block the transmission of pain signals to the brain, thus reducing nerve sensitivity. As there is less inflammation, less swelling and disruption of pain signals in the brain, the person will experience less pain. Laser treatments also stimulate the production of high levels of naturally occurring endorphins and further compensate for pain.

Laser treatment for recovery from injury or surgery

Laser treatment is a very useful tool during postoperative rehabilitation. In small cases, laser treatment alone may be enough to relieve the pain and stimulate the healing process. By acting directly on the sore or affected areas, laser treatments can help speed healing, strengthen muscles and tissues, improve mobility, and improve quality of life almost instantly.

What can I expect at a laser treatment appointment?

A technician will hold the laser stick directly on the affected area for 8 to 30 minutes. There is no pain associated with treatment. Almost immediate pain relief will allow you to feel comfortable and any anxiety you initially feel will quickly disappear.

Is laser treatment painful or uncomfortable?

Laser treatment is completely painless and very soothing. When the laser is administered, you may feel a gentle and soothing warmth, a tingling sensation or no sensation at all. For many, laser treatment is very relaxing. Are there any side effects of laser treatment? Laser treatment has no known side effects and is considered safe.

How do I schedule a laser treatment appointment?

Laser appointments are made in the Netherlands and Belgium.
